Children Literary Fiction

Bob Fowke

Authors: Bob Fowke
Print type: BOOK

Description:

Did you know that Easter is called after the Saxon goddess Eostre? Or that Saxon law didn't allow you to eat hens which had drunk human blood? And did you know that a fifth of all Saxons had at least one broken bone by the age of thirty - if the weren't dead already? The Anglo-Saxons feasted, fought and burnt the cakes, they sang songs and told tales, they drank too much, sacrificed humans and they dealt out particularly painful punishments. Any history book will give you the boring facts THEY think you should know, but only this one will tell you what the Anglo-Saxons were REALLY like . . .
