Description:

"A postmodern epic of a modern day street preacher who risks everything to help a prophet flee a figure who may be God. THE REVISIONARIES is a maximalist work of fiction, where the social novel meets comic book antics. At its heart is the leader of a ragtag parish located in a gangland corner of a city that may or may not be Knoxville, TN; a sadistic scion to a Blue Ridge family dynasty, a history professor escaped from a nearby mental asylum, and a superhuman that blinks in and out of existence. The entanglement of their lives will literally collide heaven and earth in ways only the brilliant A. R. Moxon could envision"-- A street preacher decked out in denim robes and running shoes, Julius is a source of inspiration for a community that knows nothing of his scandalous origins. When a nearby mental hospital releases its patients to run amok in his neighborhood, they expect Julius to find out what's going on. When Julius encounters a hospital escapee who babbles prophecies of doom, the growing sense of impending danger intensifies. Now Julius must confront the forces that threaten his congregation-- including the mysterious men and women dressed all in red seen fleetingly amid the bedlam, and an enigmatic smoking figure who seems to know what is going to happen just before it does. -- adapted from jacket
