Literary Fiction Police Procedural

Margarita Cota-Cardenas

Authors: Margarita Cota-Cardenas
Print type: BOOK

Description:

"Puppet is a complex, challenging, and ultimately compelling narrative. Revolving around the Chicano movement of the 1970s and 1980s, it tells the story of the murder of Puppet and the subsequent police cover-up. Just as the narrator disintegrates before the reader's eyes, the text employs one-sided dialogues, stream of consciousness narrative, and flashbacks. In spite of the seriousness of the plot, a certain grim humor shines through.". "Already an underground classic, Puppet will appeal to readers interested in the politics of the Chicano movement and in racial and feminist politics in the United States. It will be useful in classes in American Studies, Chicano Studies, and Chicana Literature."--BOOK JACKET.
