Literary Fiction Short Stories

Elaine Marcus Starkman

Authors: Elaine Marcus Starkman
Print type: BOOK

Description:

Here I Am is a premier collection of contemporary Jewish short stories from around the world, spanning six continents and twenty-four countries. Editors Marsha Lee Berkman and Elaine Marcus Starkman have compiled a stunning chorus of voices that articulate the evolving Jewish identity. Surprisingly, drastic differences in geography have done little to affect the basic themes of what it means to be a Jew today: the hardships of living in the Diaspora, the specter of anti-Semitism, the fear of complete assimilation, and of lost heritage.
