Description:

An idyllic summer lake community in upper Michigan provides a nostalgic occasion for murder. THE SCENE: a Fourth of July Shipwreck Party, where all the guests are old friends recreating a gathering they had attended thirty years before. THE VICTIM: a freckled-faced, flat-chested mermaid from Cleveland, with a husband in the sausage business. THE SLEUTH: world-famous photojournalist Helen Bullock, a childhood friend of the deceased—and quite possibly the murderer's next victim. THE SOLUTION: a chilling piece of revenge that condemns the murderer to a silent, living death.
