Description:

From the cover: "Caught between two worlds, Betsy Breecher searches for the stand she knows she must take in an involving, fast-moving, and true-to-life story. "Betsy Breecher - beautiful, bright, talented and friendly - has a one-in-a-million potential. She learned to work hard in her Dunker community and grew up loving simple pleasures and the unity of a close-knit family. Yet Betsy's interests grew when she went to school where she became interested in music, the fine arts, and school activities with her friends who were not Dunkers. "Some of Betsy's acquaintances and relatives condemn her activities, calling her 'worldly.' They say her school activities and friendships must end in favor of the traditionally plain Dunker way of life. "The pressure mounts and Betsy must make a choice. Daughter of the Plain Folk is her story. "Woven into Betsy's story are inside views on the Old Order Dunkers - their customs, churches, families, and daily way of life."
