Description:

In Cook's latest classic English romance, Faye Harvey is 21, rich, beautiful, sophisticated, and shunned in the small Cornish town of Hennaford because her son is illegitimate. When former Japanese POW Mark Fuller arrives in town to pay his respects to the orphaned children of one of his men, he collapses. Faye, together with her self-effacing young housekeeper, the widowed Susan Dowling, and Faye's uncle Tristan, who also lives there and takes a romantic interest in Susan, insist that Mark stay with them.
